Since 27 years, amateur fishermen from Brazil, Paraguay and Argentina meet together every year in Foz do lguassu in order to participate in the International Championship of Dourado's Fishing. The group that fishes the heaviest dourado takes prizes and fame.
Simultaneously, also the Challenge Cupboard of Varied Fishing takes place. In this competition any sort of fish is available. Usually, a crowd attends the setting out and the arrival of the boats and all day long participates in cultural and leisure activities.
Some years ago a new competition was introduced to complet the party: the Roasted Dourado Festival, when cooks prepare the best roasted fish, considering the flavour, decoration and aspect of the plate. Besides the fishing, Parana River offers perfect conditions for aquatic sports.
The exact dates of next year championship is not yet defined. March is the month!
